RE: speed limit

Why do all the speeders need a reason to justify breaking the law? Not all of us need a reason nor do I have to justify what Im doing. Im going to do what I do and there isnt much anyone can do about it. hpk

RE: Capinteria

I use to drive by that beach all the time.(Highway 101) It is right off the highway, so I hope you don't mind the noise. I cannot speak for the beach itself since I haven't stepped on it, but its just kind of a plane jane beach to me. I hope you have a great time, but if you want to do something else besides the beach while you are there, you could go to one of the lakes in the area to. Santa Barbara is close by. I grew up in California, I know what you are talking about, it is so different now, good job on the computer. I remember a friend who had a trailer right on the beach in Solana Beach, near San Diego. I mean year round, it was so cool, I learned to body surf there, we went there different times of the year, and hung out alot in the summer. Its another world now. Its a nice beach, our favorate place to camp when we can get in. Been going there for over 30 yrs. Its almost impossiable to get into in the summer time with reserve american. If your a suffer its not the place for you, no waves. They boast the safest beach in the country. You wont hear the highway but the RR track are only 100' away. There seams to be a 100 trains going through during the night the first night but after that you will only hear a couple. Its funny how people who has never been some where will give neg reports. hpk

RE: 2008 Ford F350; 973 Miles And 102 Gallons Later

Always interested in seeing real numbers. I wonder who will be the first to say "my 6.4 does better than that" :B You know what they say about the first one. I Think those are nonrmal numbers for what he is towing and the TV set up. hpk

RE: Trailer is rocking back and forth on the Interstate

I have a Ford Ranger with a 4.0, I tow a little 8 ft pup that wieghs less than 1000 lbs, when I drive down the interstate at 62 mph the pup rocks back and forth, is it just too light? This only happens when i'm driving on concrete with expansion joints. The only thing on the trailer tongue is a 20 lb propane bottle, is there enough tongue weight? I have never filled the water tank which is behind the axle. I do have some camping supplies but I don't thing they weigh more than about 50 lbs. Thanks http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/Dirtracin.com/DSC_0007_2.jpg?t=1222977327 You must be driving in CA. I have been on dirt roads smoother than so of the freeways around here. hpk

RE: How slow is unsafe?

I don't care if your drive 15 over the limit if you are obstructing traffic you are either in the wrong lane or driving tooooooooooo slow. Fortunately the law disagrees with you. :W Unfortunately your correct. hpk

RE: Shooting at Terribles Lakeside

"Officer safety is the No. 1 priority ...." so much for caring about the citizens. "There are consequences for violence against police officers." I would think there are consequences period! edit for: Sorry if my comments don't sit well, but it's how I think. Yep Officer safety is the No. 1 priority your safety comes way down the list. Its not their job to protect you. Its their job to enforce the law. You have to protect yourself. Unforthally in some states you done even that that right. California comes to mind. hpk

RE: More Arizona speed camera's

Until a cop busts you for making your plates unreadable. ;) Most of those covers still are required to make it so that the plate is readable by law enforcement from any angle, which means they're readable by most traffic cameras. If your plates are not easily readable you can be cited for that in of itself. Myth busters already busted the cover thing. hpk

RE: How slow is unsafe?

Standard rule in driving class is you flash your headlights at a slowpoke in the left lane to signal him to pull over. Works for me 95% of the time (the other 5% I get the one finger salute). It amazes me how 20 cars will sit behind one of these jerks pissing and moaning, but are afraid they might cause "road rage" if they flash their lights. Flashing your lights is the PROPER and LEGAL way to signal the car in front of you, they will just have to get over it. Flashing lights in Oregon can be considered as a form of "road rage" That figures from a state where they think the people arent smart enough to pump their own gas. hpk

RE: Length restrictions

When looking at some of the campgrounds, I see length restrictions. What is not clear is how they count the length. For a motorhome, it's obvious. What about a travel trailer? For example, some of the California beach parks limit to 24' and many of the forest service parks also have short limits. Are they just counting the trailer, or are they counting the towing rig? If so, practically no trailers can use the reservation systems. Depending on the site and what the trees are like and how far you can back into the site. Most of the state parks in CA its perty easy to get a 24" rig in a space thats for a 21' or put a 28' in a 24' space. They dont count the TV. hpk

RE: More Arizona speed camera's

You only get a ticket if your doing more than 10 MPH over. It triggers at 11 over. What AZ needs is red light cameras not speed cams. When the light turns red 3 more people go through the intersection. hpk

RE: What’s up with bicyclists riding the white line?!? (rant)

Bike riders are told (taught?) to ride the white line.Who in their right mind would teach or tell a bike rider to break the law in the majority of the states? The law in the majority of the state is that the bike rider will ride "as far to the right" as is safe to ride and will not impede the normal flow of traffic. I believe in sharing the road, as long as the bike rider believes in being a responsible and law abiding rider. The fog line is the edge of the road so if they ride the fog line they are as far right as practical hpk
